Minister Derrell Gray, Associate Pastor of the 3000 member, Triedstone Baptist Church is homeless, something we do not hear much in this era. Usually, even associate pastors get a salary, to set them up in nice home and to be able to drive a decent car. However, Pastor Gray has been doing his work for the Lord and not for money. He preaches to lost souls and the poor while enduring poverty himself, which is not a popular thing among the average rich and famous celebrity preachers of today.
Now, of course, we are not saying anything is wrong with a preacher having money, because we sincerely feel all pastors should receive salaries, but when their church members do not have anything to give, there is nothing wrong with experiencing homelessness like Pastor Derrell Gray. No one is above the homeless and needy and this is what God is revealing through the life of this minister to show others whom are enjoying their wealth from tithes and offerings, this is what many of their church members endure, after building up their mega ministries with their hard earned money. In our opinion, Pastor Gray deserves a salary as an associate pastor, but obviously he is not preaching in a church that is based on the prosperity gospel, his church evidently reaches out to a lot of poor people among those hard working citizens of Chicago. Therefore, it is time for today's average celebrity preacher to realize they cannot preach to impoverished people, unless they have something in common with them. The prosperity gospel has been allegedly known to set the celebrity preacher and his first family in nice homes and top of the line luxury automobiles, but many church members are scraping to survive while struggling to attend their motivational church services during this recession. Poverty is not the will of God, but it is not the will of God for the average celebrity preacher to live better than his or her church members. Therefore, God is going to bless Pastor Derrell Gray for his sincerity in preaching to lost souls, instead of for fame and fortune.
Eventually, after Pastor Gray and his family has survived homelessness, we deeply feel God is going to bless him with a testimony to help those whom flock to hear him preach realize they can make it. He will be able to help the poor come out of their predicament, better than a rich and famous preacher, because he has a testimony. Poor people can relate better to a messenger whom has endured poverty like them, than an average celebrity preacher whom is selfish, inconsiderate and cares nothing for those whom faithfully attends their mega churches and can hardly survive. Furthermore, he and his family are just as important as these rich and famous first families whom allegedly flaunt their wealth while enjoying their stardom in front of their huge congregations that was only meant for Jesus Christ.
