Celebrity News: Thousands gather to remember boxing icon Emanuel Steward


Those of you whom are fans of boxing many years ago recall this great man, Emanuel Steward.  The legendary boxing trainer trained some of the greatest heavyweight champions in history.   He died October 25 of a short term illness and finally he is being laid to rest today.  Over 4,000 people are gathering right now at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit, MI to honor the life of this legend, including Aretha Franklin who is scheduled to sing. 

When you think about Muhammed Ali, Joe Frazier and George Foreman, think about Emanuel Steward, it was because of him those boxers and many others became household names.  In attendance at his funeral will be some famous champs, according to MyFOXDetroit.com, champs Roy Jones Jr., Lennox Lewis, Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns and Wladimir Klitschko.  According to ESPN, Emanuel Steward had a positive attitude about anything in life and he taught courage to the people whom were in his presence. 

Emanuel Steward called the godfather of Detroit boxing was 68 years old. Our prayers are with his family and friends and may he rest in peace.
