Cardiologist, Dr. Ola Akinboboye gives message to black churches to eat healthy


Finally, we've got an African American doctor who cares about what type of food the members of the black church are eating.   Dr. Ola Akinboboye desires for the preachers within the black church to discourage unhealthy eating.  When is the last time we've heard of an intelligent African American doctor sending a clear message about the dangers of eating unhealthy food?

SCR readers, something has got to change, there are too many people within the black church who love good preaching, good gospel music, but they don't like eating healthy food.  Therefore, we agree with Dr. Akinboboye, it is time for preachers to encourage the congregants within the black church to eat right.  For in every generation, there has been too many of black people hearing the the gospel of Jesus Christ, but dying before their time of all sorts of diseases.

 It is time for people within the black church to realize many of their close friends and loved ones would still be here, but in every generation they refused to stop eating unhealthy food.  A lot of soul food has too much salt, sugar and grease, it is time to recreate soul food into healthy food, even if it taste much different.  The main thing is, we need to take heed to Dr. Akinboboye's message and make a wise decision to prolong our lives.

According to NYDailyNews.com, “The average black man lives 68 years, while the average white woman lives to 85,” says Dr. AkinboboyeNow, we know how to fellowship and marry outside of our race within the black church, but when is there going to come a time when African Americans can take better care of themselves like many other races?

Akinboboye, head of the Association of Black Cardiologists, believes preaching heart friendly choices in church will carry over into African-American households.
