Here's our take on women being leaders in the church, we support women preachers, whether they be a pastor, bishop or evangelist. We are in an era when many women have to pave the way for themselves in life and the subject of a man always being the head is not fair in certain cases. Now, we can sort of understand why some people are offended by Bishop Corletta Vaughn's position, but really, it ought not be a constant discussion that we are missing out on winning souls for the Lord. We are living in a different era when many women have had to gain independence in order to survive, not trying to be a feminist, but it's a fact of life. While there is continuous debate on whether women should have leadership within the church, many souls are dying and losing their souls, every second.
Of course, the biblical scripture reads in 1 Corinthians 11:3, 'But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.' Then another one found in Ephesians 5:23, 'For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.' However, many women have never been married and had to fight obstacles in life for themselves, no man was ever around, no father, not even their several brothers, uncles, cousins in the family whenever there was a crisis. Many of these women found Jesus Christ to be the head of their lives and have every right to witness and hold any title within the church.
So what about saved women who never had a man as the head of the house, would Jesus send them to hell for taking a position as a pastor, bishop or any other authoritative position in the church? We say absolutely not, the God we serve if fair and completely understands the hardships of most black women who never even had a man to lead or help them.
